We all know coffee is delicious, and (as you can read in this blog post) it can have some fantastic health benefits. But that’s not the only thing you can do with your coffee. The next time the coffee grounds bin needs emptying, don’t just throw it out. Each year, the UK produces 500,000 tonnes of waste coffee grounds each year. Instead of adding to this pile of waste, read on to find out how to recycle your coffee grounds!

Use them in your garden

  • Coffee grounds are great to use in your garden. They are a good way to naturally fertilise your garden without having to use any chemicals. Plants that prefer a more acidic soil, like azaleas and hydrangeas, will thank you for it!
  • Dried coffee grounds can also be used as a natural insect repellant to keep ants, slugs, and snails away.

Use them in the kitchen

  • Coffee grounds can be used to add flavour to your cooking. They can be added to marinades, and used to help tenderise meat. They can also be used to add flavour to dishes like chilli and chocolate cake.

Use them on your skin

  • Coffee grounds can be used as an exfoliating scrub, and can result in tighter, healthier skin due to the caffeine in the grounds stimulating skin cells. Simply mix your coffee grounds with coconut oil and brown sugar and scrub away!
