Office-fit out firm selects TopBrewer as focal point in new office space

TopBrewer is the wow factor in Office Principles new office cafe area

 

 

Office design and fit-out specialists, Office Principles, utilised their internal expertise and over 25 years of experience to design and manage their own office relocation and fit-out project - moving into their new workspace in August 2016.

 

Although their old office was in an ideal position with good transport links to Central London, they had rapidly outgrown the space and the building was starting to look tired. So, when the opportunity arose to move into a larger office next door, it was the perfect opportunity to expand the office footprint without compromising on location. At the same time, they were able to design a whole new, stylish workspace - one that would better reflect their office design capabilities.

One of the primary objectives of the new office was to give something back to employees, whilst also creating a bigger, more flexible workspace that would enable departments to work together more collaboratively. The space offers a mix of meeting tables, sit-stand desks, brainstorming areas, booths and a cafe area. Lee Parsons, Marketing Director at Office Principles explains: 

“Designing the office from scratch allowed us to create a mix of activity-based workspaces to suit different styles of working. The space is agile and flexible, and we made a conscious decision to reduce the number of fixed desks to encourage staff to use the space more freely.”

Lee adds; “As we regularly welcome clients and visitors to our offices, it was important that the workspace acted as a showroom as well as a functional office. The new space is light and airy, and each area has been designed with a unique 'wow factor'  to act as a memorable focal point.”

The relocation has also allowed Office Principles to demonstrate how technology can enhance the working environment, with many advanced technology features integrated throughout the offices, including TV’s with wireless capabilities and a writable glass wall.

 

Encouraging casual collisions with coffee

For the cafe area, Office Principles wanted to create a functional kitchen space and a breakout area that would encourage casual collisions and interactions between staff. 

TopBrewer was selected as the focal point of the space after Lee saw it exhibited at both the Facilities Show and at the 100% Design show.

Lee adds, “Part of the brief was that there had to be a ‘wow factor’ in every space. For the kitchen area, the wow factor and focal point is the TopBrewer. We always knew we wanted a premium office coffee machine, but we particularly loved the fact that the TopBrewer was driven by an iPad and that it was capable of dispensing fresh coffee and filtered water from one streamlined tap.”

In the original kitchen design the TopBrewer was positioned on the back wall of the kitchen area, but after a design meeting with the Scanomat team the decision was taken to move it into a central island unit.

“The original plans for the cafe area showed the TopBrewer on the back counter, but once we understood Office Principles objectives, we recommended that the TopBrewer be positioned in an island unit to make it more of a focal point in the space. As a result the designers reimagined the cafe area to accommodate the TopBrewer in a central position. The end result is much more impactful and an approach we highly recommend for collaborative working environments.”
